Move to End D.C. Gun Ban

Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), the Democratic presidential nominee, appeared yesterday at the Thurgood Marshall Center in the District with Mayor Anthony A. Williams (D) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) to criticize President Bush for allowing the federal assault weapons ban to expire Sunday night, despite his 2000 campaign pledge to support it.

After praising Kerry for "the courage of your leadership" to extend the ban, Norton said, "I have just learned that the House will shortly schedule an up-or-down vote to repeal all our local gun safety laws. . . . President Bush, who promised to support an effective assault weapons ban four years ago, would apparently allow the unlawful purchase and use of such weapons even in the nation's capital."
I'd like some documentation that Bush has advocated allowing unlawful use of any weapons in D.C. or anywhere else. The House is not considering repealing any laws banning unlawful use of weapons.

Let Rep. Norton know that her lies are not appreciated.

And you will not find such documation. The Washington Post? Give me a break. This left wing anti-gun owners paper specializes in fiction. Washington DC, home of a former mayor who got himself into so much trouble that it actually made intertaining reading, what with his being drug busted, and all the rest. The paper should be put up with all the other papers that you look at while going thru the check-out stand at your local grocery store. DC, High crime rate, among the highest in the nation. So DC gun bans should help, right? Because when you call the DC Cops, they will scoot right over to protect you from the bad guys. Nope - they only come AFTER the crime, in which case your options are severly limited. And if in deed they do come, count yourself lucky. Homeowners and residents of DC have the same problem we do in Calif. Richmond, Oakland, many other hi crime areas.
