In a state that is free, would you have to have a stamp since it's above .50? How would a private citizen go about owning this?

Yeah, seen it a while back when I saw "that tv gun show" do some work on a 20mm Lahti. Got me interested in the 20mm so I did some research. I believe it's the largest caliber that can be owned by a non-FFL civvie.

The mag fed 20mm is listed at $12K, not $6,800 on their site.

20mm is still in current use in the Vulcan MG, but apparently is extremely difficult to source, even if you could afford it.

Like the .50 BMG, if you don't have a half-mile available to shoot, why own one?

There was a guy at the range last weekend with a .50 Serbu. Nice rifle, inexpensive as .50's go. He only had five rounds with him..."ammo's too expensive" he said...

And this is only a 200M range. No place to shoot it, can't afford to shoot it, so why own it?

I believe it's the largest caliber that can be owned by a non-FFL civvie.

I thought a .50 caliber rifle was the largest legally owned by a civilian? But I’ve been wrong before.

No- I think you're right...you can keep your perfect record :)
Now that I think about it, I recall that anything over .5" is a destructive device?

The gun is a DD, needing a transfer stamp to purchase. Not a FFL. The ammo is probably hard to come by as a lot of it it tracer/explosive/armor piercing what makes every round a DD in itself.
