The thread below on the Beretta 25 intrigued me. I have a 25 Beretta 950 and a 22LR M21. Both have had their 2.5" barrels replaced with 4" ones.
I have them simply because 1) they can be hidden - and not necessarily on me - and 2) an adequate supply of ammo takes up little room.
Being poorly armed doesn't have much appeal to me. Being UNARMED? You gotta be kidding.
What I want to know is if the 4 inch barrel will make a significant difference for first the 25, and then the 22, over the factory barrels. 4" 22's are a better known quantity. 4" 25's less so.
The 25 is notorious for not penetrating the skull and following it's curve under the scalp. Mine stays loaded with Sanow designed cookie-cutter all copper Max Sub Caliber and the Glaser Blue rounds. But new sharp hollow point rounds are out by several makers. Can these be counted on outside the eye/eye/nose triangle for penetration? And by the way, I have a mag for the gun, with two spare mags and plan to pick up 2 more. Precision shot placement, repeated till the target is down or time to reload.
Let me emphasize that for now these are tertiary or at worst secondary levels of defense in traveling. Maybe even quadruciary.
When I travel it's a SKS w/ 2 pouches of 4 30 round AK mags in each, a heavy caliber service pistol ( 41 mag or highcap +P+ 9mm ) and snub ( 38 spl ). As a friend once said on picking up my suitcase " ...what do you have in here? Lead? OHHHHHHH!!!"
So does the extra 1 1/2 inches make enough difference?
