mounting shell holder on remington 870?

No problem. I've had a couple of the Tacstars and they work pretty well. I'd avoid their mag extensions like the plague, but their sidesaddles gave me no troubles.

I eventually took mine off to cut weight on the gun, though.

That being said, make sure you don't lose your original trigger group pins in case you want to remove the sidesaddle later.

for sure. i'm wary of nearly all their other products but i think they hold their own with the sidesaddles. i went with a 2rd choate extension for the wingmaster, mostly because theyre the only ones who offer the blued finish. from what i hear theyre pretty quality, but ill see for myself soon enough...

Choate is good stuff and probably the best bang for your buck. To get equivalent quality from other manufacturers you have to spend considerably more $.

Tacstar does hold their own on the sidesaddles.

If you don't have a M4 style stock that is already drilled for the side saddle I would just get one of the elastic ones you can just slide on so you don't mess up your stock. IMHO

Let's hope so.

Those bandolier slings look tacticool and all but when it comes time to actually use them you have 2 problems:

1) The pendulum effect of the weight of the shells is working against you holding aim with your shotgun.

2) A quick reload means having to grasp a swinging shell in a sling and then feed your scattergun. Much easier to train to grasp shells from a fixed position on your receiver, buttstock, belt, or bandolier on yourself.

Also that Butler Creek folding stock is a little brutal on the cheekbone. Ask me how I know.......:p

The D.T.O.M. Flag attached to the folder stock is not only going to give away position to the BG but might put yer eye out...
I took all the flags off my guns when I turned 19:D

There's a good reason...
Typically, a matte finish (as on an 870 Express) is a prerequisite for an HD or tactical gun. That's why most extensions are matte. Most folks would use a Wingmaster for hunting and target work and get an 870 Express (or 870 LE gun) as the basis for their tacti-cool conversion. I suspect you finished product will be suitable for neither.

If it shoots buckshot and ball it's suitable for protecting myself. The target doesn't care about the finish and neither do I. This isn't specops work, this is everyday life. I'll take the blued finish and workmanship of a Wingmaster over the matte finish and assembly line setup of an Express any day of the week. I like express guns, don't get me wrong, but the idea of selecting them over a Wingmaster for anything is a bad one. I'm not breaching doors or clearing buildings in a combat zone. I'm building a weapon to protect myself and my family in an everyday situation. I know how to use, disassemble and maintain the gun. That's what matters most.

I suspect your comment will raise the ire of many 870 Express owners, but that's a topic for another thread.

IMHO, that's what you started with.

I dont like the Tacstar side saddles at all, because after installing and removing the threaded screws that replace the reciever pins, your trigger plate detents get worn out and damaged.
