mounting a scope on an 03A3?

I have a Springfield 1903A3 (Smith-Corona). The rifle was made in 1943, then after WWII was sold to the NRA, who refurbished the rifle. My Grandfather bought the rifle from the NRA in 1954 and after sitting in a closet untouched in packing grease for 55 years was given to me. I take extremely good care of this rifle. I enjoy shooting the rifle very much and have used it deer hunting with success.

What I am wondering now is, is there a way to mount a scope to this rifle with out making any alterations? I do not way to butcher and de-value this piece of history.

If so, what combination of scope and scope mount should I use?

Yes, and this question has come up before and perhaps you can find more info, if you do a historical seach. Last year, one of my shooting buddies had one on his O3A3 adn it was a B-Square. At that time, I remember that Midway was listing one and it was not cheap. However, one advantage was that no machining was needed. Take a look in Midway while you are at it. My buddy sold the gun complete, even after telling him to remove the mount. ....

Be Safe !!!

I have used the B-Square product and do not recommend it, however there is a similar product available which does work well. Can't remember the maker, but if you Google Springfield 03 scope mount your bound to run into it.
