I have to admit, I'm a little proud of this one...

My 9 year old daughter is right handed and left eye dominant... It's an issue that's easily overcome with a little training, but at 9 she lacks the discipline to probably stick with the training...

I got a bright idea... she shoots well with a red dot on a pistol... why not outfit a Heritage Arms Rough Rider with a red dot scope and let her go at it, building a passion and the discipline required to correct the issue. Here's a video of my friendly Neighborhood Gunsmith installing the red dot for me!

cant get the video to work, but, did the gun you modify come from the factory with the electronic sight on it? those guns apparently have a little more meat in the top strap versus the regular fixed sight guns
 
I appuluad your desire to keep your daughter shooting and your nifty approch to the issue but you have done her a diservice not teaching her to shoot from her dominant side. Yesterday I work with am 8 or 9 y/o girl who was the same way. When I noticed she was left eye dominate I taugh her to shoot form the left. She is the 3rd one this year I have shown how to shoot from the dominant side. Teach dominant side shooting for the least confusing results. When she learns that she will become a much better shot.

You may be right... at this point, I just want her to want to shoot! She really started tearing up the targets when we began keeping BOTH eyes open. She then picked her dominant hand (again, even better hits), and finally got her stance down! She did great.

I agree that soon she'll have to work to make adjustments, but right now, it's just to have fun and build some interest...

Does that make sense?

I agree completely... both eyes open is the way to go... and train. This tool was just to get her excited enough to do the training. First comes the love of shooting, then comes the work. The love gets you through the work.

At least that's what I'm hoping for.
