Mounting a 30mm Scope on a Ruger Mark II

Hi, I just purchased a Ruger Mark II Competition Model. Also, at the same time I bought a Tasco Pro Point 3 Red Dot Scope. The diameter of the scope is 30mm. The dealer told me that I just had to get the correct size rings and the scope will fit. The rings that came with the gun are 1" rings. I called Ruger and they are sending me a set of 30mm medium rings. I haven't received the rings yet but I laid the plate on the gun that came with it and it doesn’t look like the center of the scope will fit between where the rings are going to go. This is my first experience with mounting a scope and you'll have to forgive my ignorance but am I thinking about this correctly or should I be going about this in a different way? I know that there is supposed to be something I can get to mount the scope on that will require me to take the rear site off. I'd like to leave this site on. Anyone that has experience with this that can politely point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Problem Solved

Hi Guys, I happened to call a local gun store and they had a Weaver base adapter in stock for the Ruger Mark II. I'm now able to mount the scope with no problem. It looks as though my problem was common and there is a company called Weigand Combat www.jackweigand.com that made exactly what I needed for $14.95. I was able to use the supplied rings with the scope.
