Most trouble free caliber in the various guns you have owned.

I have had the best relaiblilty across the board. It seems that gun design matters more than caliber but I have noticed that most 9mm have a slightly better rep for reliability than the larger calibers. I have had good luck in all my calibers except a few 1911 45 acp's

.357/.38 in my revolvers. Never had a problem.

Second comes 9mm.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

I've owned a @&# 457, a Taurus PT92, a Taurus 608 (ported), and a Ruger P95. So far, the most trouble free has been both the PT 92 and the P95.

Coincidence? I think not. I've always thought the 9mm was a particularly reliable round. I've never heard many complaints concerning that caliber.

In the interest of brevity, I won't list all that I own/have owned.

I will say that the 9mm has given me the least troulbe, and the most satisfaction.

I'm assuming you're talking about pistols versus revolvers, right? My vote goes to the 9x18 Makarov. The .40 S&W might be a close second, but I haven't shot enough rounds (yet) to be sure.

I think a couple of my 9mm pistols would have to place on top, though I suspect that my recently acquired Mak will be very reliable.

Never had any glitches using my 41 and 45 Redhawks; every other gun I've ever owned has had at least one (but I own a 9mm Witness that's been 100% reliable with chamber-checked ammo).

7.62X25 in my CZ52.
I believe the bottleneck design contributes greatly to feed reliability.

.38 Special/.357 Magnum for sure. Thing about a high-quality wheel gun (S&Ws, earlier Colts, Rugers) is they "go bang" almost without fail. My autoloaders (Colts, Kimbers, Glocks, Sigs, H&Ks) are wonderful firearms and have excellent reliability -- but not quite the reliability of the revolvers.

I will throw a monkey wrench in the 9mm is best by mentioning reloading. 9mm can be a real bugger to reload.

When I first started reloading, years ago, I could not get the crimp on a 9mm correct. My bullets were not held tight. I corrected the problem with a Lee factory crimp die.

I have never had a problem with 45acps. I will opt for the 45acp.

.38 Super! I haven't fired many guns for it, which probably skews the result. But they've all worked--and more reliably, even, than some of my revolvers.
