most simple and reliable gas system

what's the most simple, genial and reliable gas system among semi-auto
shotguns ?
imagine to hunt in the middle of afrika, no gunsmith in the area. your hands
as only help. Suggestions?

The Saiga line of shotguns are pattenered after the AK-47 action, which is one of the most reliable actions available in a repeating long gun.

Benneli

Benelli uses a system that doesn't bleed the gas off for recoil. It lets all of the gas out the barrel and then recoil occurs which keeps everything cleaner so you can shoot a good bit longer between cleanings. This is more of an inertia system than a gas system. I really like their system. I can go most of the year without worry about cleaning the reciever out and just running a snake through the barrel once or twice.

If you plan to hunt with an auto shotgun in Africa someday, check their laws. Many African nations do not allow semi-auto shotguns or rifles to hunt with,

As far as reliable, I have messed with Rem 1100's, Rem 11-87's, and a lemon of a Franchi in 20ga that my bro-in-law had. I would say the 1100 gas system is very simple. The O-ring is the most likely to go bad, and having a spare or two with the gun is always smart. If something really goes bad with the gas systems, load 1 shell at a time and shoot.

I have tried just about all of the autoloaders out there including the recoil operated guns. My vote for simple and reliable is the SuperX2. They work.

I've owned a Beretta 3901 (sold it recently) and I replaced it with a Valtro-made Weatherby SAS. both Mfr's use a piston with no O-rings in it. Both are reliable and easy to clean. Beretta is the better-known gun, and a broken-in 391 will go over 1,000 rounds without a cycling failure. I've never shot four cases through a gun without cleaning it, but one of my friends does and has no complaints.
