just got a very nice model 15-2 and ran 100 158gr swc(remanufactured)through it. though the gun is very tight and was seldom shot, i was expecting better since my 28-2 shoots ragged holes with these loads. i would like to stay with cost effective ammo but need advice on what to try to improve accuracy with this gun. ron

I have the Pro 7 setup now for 2.6 grns of Bullseye under a 148 hollowbase wadcutter (swaged). It seems to work well.

Depends on your barrel length. It's slow. I've found that load to be quite accurate as well, in a wide variety of guns.

(Can you imagine how many tons of Bullseye must have been fired up 2.6 grains at a time? :) )

I've had real good luck using my handloads in my model 15-6.

158 grain SWC cast
3.7 grains Bullseye
Federal 100
Star-Line
800 fps

Really makes for an accurate/inexpensive load.

Good Luck...

WOW that's some set up Joe. maybe i need something on top of my 4", but most likely several hundred rounds of my 158gr lswc of practice before i draw conclusions. ron

148gr. wadcutter over 2.5 700X or 2.7Bullseye. The Bullseye load, by the way, is listed in the NRA handloader's guide as the "standard" target load for National Matches. Quantrill

The very best and most accurate load I ever worked up for my S&W .38 revolvers is: 3.2 grains WW231. 148 grain Hollow base wadcutter. It is extremely accurate out to 50 yards. :)

Another vote for the 148gr HBWC bullet.

It's the target bullet, intended for the bullseye gang. I run 2.8gr of WST behind my 148gr Hollow-base wadcutter handloads, in a custom 6" long PPC/Steel Challenge revolver, as well as an all-original S&W Model 52 autoloader.
