mossberg silver reserve 12ga O/U, your opinion please

They have had firing pin issues in the past but that has been worked out on the more recent models. I dont like them because they dont come with a straight grip stock. They come in 28 gauge though.

Oops... I'm confused, I think I know what you mean, but I'm not 100% sure. A stock can be straight OR grip, but it can't be both. If it's the straight style you prefer, and dislike grip stocks, then your choices are significantly limited in today's market.

The SR did have firing pin issues. That is why I got rid of mine. Broke about every 400 shots or so.

I just replaced the pins in another one last week for a friend at the range. The pins have been changed. His old ones had a sharp shoulder where the new ones had a more gradual transition.

If the pins last then the gun would not be that bad.
 
You get what you pay for. I don't think there one can find a new double shotgun available for under a thousand that is worth a tinker's dam.
