Mossberg Shotgun Bedding

Ok first I am not a Mossberg fan. I purchased it only after looking for over a year for a Browning A-Bolt. That said this thing can really shoot. I have shot sub 3" groups at 100 yards not once but numberous times. Ok so it shoots good but I still am not satisified, can the Mossberg 695 be glass bedded? Has anyone tried? Problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, but it's a bit tricky. Assuming you've found the best slug for that barrel, do this.....

First, try free floating the barrel. Fire some test groups, then add a little pad at the tip of the forend. Folded aluminum foil works. Increase the thickness until you determine just how much pressure is needed to regulate the barrel harmonics.

These barrels are quite thin compared to rifle barrels. The pad adds some stiffness.

If that isn't enough to make you happy, pillar bed the action screws and do the first inch or two of barrel.

HTH....

Thats the problem

I had originally wanted to do it like you suggested however it only has one (1) action screw. This is a very cheaply made stock in my opinion. What it does have is the tang support and three barrel channel supports. I am toying with filling these two cavities with something right now either bedding material or a few blocks of alum. I will try to post a picture this afternoon.

Try skipping the middle and doing it like a 10-22. Use a little glass at the extreme back end of the action and a short band of it forward of the receiver, then relieve it between.

Still think what I said the first time will do more good, but, hey, there's more than one road.
