Mossberg Rifle

I have recently purchased a Mossberg lever-action model 400 .22 at a gun show. It even came with an old Weaver B4 scope on it. I wanted some info on when it was manufactured (approximate as it does not have a serial number) and approx. value.

Thanks,

Pwolfman

Pwolfman, the Mossberg Model 400 Palamino was made from 1959-1964. In excellent condition it could be worth about $200-$250. Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Will replacing the stock, which has a small crack that was repaired by the previous owner, greatly increase the value? In other words, do I spend the 60 bucks for a new stock if it increases the value, or do i live with a slightly damaged stock?

Thanks,

pwolfman

There were also some other variations on the 400. There was the 400A, the 402 and the 402A. The last was made up until 1071.

Hi, pwolfman,

Gun Parts Corp. (www.gunpartscorp.com) has stocks for the 402 (which I think is the same stock) for about $32 and the foreend for $16. Plus S&H of course.
