Mossberg Question

I have an old Moss 500 with the single arm on the action tube...and its broken. These parts are obviously hard to find...My question is, can I get a dual armed one and cut one arm off? Or am I better off just selling what I have off for parts, though I dont want to...Anyone have any other Ideas?
