Mossberg question - "Not for use with slugs"

I just bought a new Mossy 935 autoloader. On the side of the bbl is stamped "not for use with slugs" or similar. Say what - why? I believe it's safe to do so, no? Does it depends on which choke is in? E.g. perhaps shoot slugs with the IC or Mod but not full choke would be wise?

I think it's because the back boring is opened up enough to allow the slug to tumble or get stuck---or something nasty like that. If it says not to do it on the barrel---DON"T DO IT!!!

Backboring is when they enlarge the bore diameter to allow better patterns. Standard bore is about .729, give or take a thousanth. I believe Mossberg opens up the bore to almost 10ga diameter, which is about .779. I believe it is actually about .745. Many clay target guns will be backbored to about .735 or close for better patterns.

If a slug is shot it may not get a gas seal in the bore, or it is slightly possible that it could get stuck, but doubtful. I believe accuracy would be very poor.

I did the same thing and he is right the backend is wider than the rest of the barrel. Buy a slug barrel but I use mine just for turkey only... so it's all good (mine is an 835 ulti mag). I did not know it before I fell in love with the gun though.
