Mossberg Problem. Help?

I picked up a .410 Mossberg pump to hunt dove. Last weekend I started having a problem. About every 5-6 shot, when I would pull the trigger the gun would not fire and the slide release would disengage.

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I didn't pay much for the gun and hate to take it to a gunsmith. Thanks

Did you pull the trigger assembly out and give it a good cleaning??? Take a look at how the parts interact and see if something looks wrong there.

Don't take apart the assembly----just give it a good flush with something like Remington Action Scrubber.

A good cleaning is always a good idea. Also,did the shells that did not fire seem to have a dent in the primer? There may be some grunge that's interfering.
