Mossberg O/U

Does anyone have an O/U Mossberg? How do they perform given their price?

Any opinions good, bad, indifferent?

You'd be better off to spend the money on a nice pump. The quality of double guns drops off dramatically below a certain point.

Try this test: Look at a new in the box Silver Reserve. Pick up the barrels and notice the machining grit on the lugs. It used to take 15 minutes of cleaning to get them to the point where you could assemble the gun without it crunching. Then realize that the entire interior of the gun is filled with the same grit.

I think we have had this conversation once before lol

I'm a college student and really dont have a huge budget right now. I would be comfortable at $800 or below, but willing to go into the $1200 for a Browning. I saw Mossberg had a O/U and they have a good lineage in shotguns. I was curious to see how their O/U performed. The price sounds really good, but scares me as well. I do not want to loose quality.

If its not worth the investment I dont want to go down that road. This new O/U shotgun will be mainly used in trap and skeet.

Mossberg has a good lineage in PUMP shotguns, not O/U - get the Browning, or a Beretta - whichever fits the best. You'll have a gun that will last a lifetime and who's cost will be dwarfed by ammo, target, and hunting costs......:D

Mossberg makes a good quality inexpensive pump shotgun. Mossberg markets cheap Turkish O/Us.

Either get a pump until the budget can cover a Browning or Beretta or expand the budget until you can cover one now.

Getting any of the cheap O/Us (Stoeger, Baikal/Spartan, Mossberg, etc. ) is throwing good money away.

I have a couple great pump guns, so I'm happy for now I just really want an O/U... I will just put the extra capital away for a couple months...Then a Browning!!!:D:D:D

Good choice, if you're happy with "great" pump guns, then a junker O/U would be a disappointment. Brownings are fine; but, don't overlook a Beretta if you find a deal your can't resist.

They're much better than they used to be......

I had a 12/20 Ducks Unlimited combo that I won in a raffle.

It was a very nice looking gun, nice duck engraving, shot OK, I never had a problem with it...

I sold it and bought a Beretta O/U....
