a Week ago I purchased a new Mossberg MVP LC rifle from wholesale hunter, had to order as no place local, not even the big boxes had one.
Picked up the Rifle from the FFL and took it home.
Immediately noticed that the barrel and action are not centered in the chassis.
The chassis is all aluminum and machined to fit the receiver, there is no way to adjust it whatsoever.
I hoped this was just a cosmetic issue and not a functional one, and off to the range we went.
So far we have made 3 trips to the range, have tried 2 different scopes, different sets of rings, different kinds of ammo and the results are consistent.. absolutely horrid accuracy. Its just all over the place, one shot might be dead center, the next high and right, the third low and left, fourth not even on paper.. etc etc.. this is all while shooting 50 yards off of sand bags and a poured concrete table..
the -BEST- group we could get out of it was a 6" group... AT 50 YARDS..
We never even tried shooting beyond 50 because it was so hard to keep it on paper. Often one or 2 rounds out of 5 would be touching, the other 3 would not even be on paper. Again, this was constant across 3 different trips with different ammo and optics.
Another thing we noticed, is no matter what scope or what rings we used, initially the point of impact was as much as 3 feet LOW @ 50 yards, we always had to nearly max out the elevation adjustment all the way up to get on paper, which I find very odd.
Im at a complete loss here, between the rifle and optics Im about $1800 deep into this thing and it shoots worse than a flea market pellet gun.
I assume the next step is to reach out to Mossberg, which as I understand it is often not a pleasant experience.
Anybody have any other suggestions or input? Im flat out of ideas here.
EDIT: Pics of crooked barrel/chassis below.
