Mossberg + Knoxx SpecOps question

I finally bought a 500 for the Knoxx stock I've had. One problem though, the stock is a little high and I can't sight level down the ramp like I prefer. Any way to adjust that?

Try setting the stock back another notch, the farther back it is the easier to hunker down on the sights imo, plus it makes cheek slap less likely.

I don't mind the higher sight picture because I use a cantilever barrel with a scope, but if I was still using the bead it would be a conscious effort to learn how to hunker down far enough automatically.

Try the Mossberg Spacers used for adjusting stocks.

"Considering that one gun does not fit all shooters, Mossberg® designed this new “system” of Stock Drop Spacers. It’s an easy and efficient method of bringing the comfortable fit of a custom stock within every shooter’s reach., SKU 95091
( 95091 ) Price: $17.99"

For my favorite complaint on the pistol grip stock Mossbergs look into the Calvalry Arms safety:

I haven't used it, but it looks like it will do the trick. Any one have one?

I'm a bit confused... why do we need to worry about the Mossberg safety location with a Knoxx SpecOps grip? For me it's a bit odd with the cantilever scope, but not the grip.

I can't reach the tang mounted Safety with out taking my hand out of Firing Position. Not a big deal for hunting I suppose, but old habits die hard.

I grew up, as it were, taking my weapon off safe has I aquired the target, then put it on safe has I brought the weapon down. Quick and easy with the standard stock, just push it with your thumb. Hard to do if you can't reach it without moving your hand.

Wow, is that a Limbsaver on the end of the Knoxx? I bet you don't feel anything at all with that setup.

I was recently asked what I was shooting at the local outdoor range... As people kept hearing the "ziiiiiiiiiipppp" from my rounds...

I had to explain I was not shooting .50cal rounds (even though thats what I store my ammo in). I was shooting 600grain Brenneke Black Magic 3" magnum rounds... :)

Personally with this setup, it is hard to tell the difference between 12g low-recoil 00 buck, normal 00 buck, 1oz 2 3/4" rifled slugs, or the 1 3/8oz (600grain) 3" rifled slugs.

I ordered my Limbsaver directly from Knoxx. Knoxx p/n is #18005 and the price is $29.95. (phone order from them only, not on their website or any retailer)

I found out about it at:

http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/vie...ghlight=&sid=6ff2171c1eb8757b9e301f0864cf7fa2

The text of that article says that I would need to drill new holes... but I wimped out and just re-used the same holes from the stock pad. Which if you look carefully - ended up with the limbsaver mounted a little high (1/4" or so) - not that you can tell while firing - and even in the pic I posted above, it's difficult to tell the pad is high unless you know what to look for.
