Mossberg FLEX 500

In the market for my first shotgun....

The main purpose would be a HD gun, ideally with a light and possible pistol grip.

I like idea of being able to put a better stock, grip, and barrel on it to be able to go bird hunting.

I hear mixed reviews on mossberg...

Not sure of the exact differences between all the 500's and the 590's, but i believe i heard the 500's in general are lighter and accept more barrels, but can't hold as many rounds and are less durable.

Forget the pistol grip and go with a standard stock. The 500 is all that is needed for HD. Spend the money that would have been spent on a 590 for training/practice.

Buy the Mossberg two barrel package. Use the 18" barrel for HD and the 28" barrel with choke tubes for hunting. Don't forget to replace the magazine plug when hunting. Forget the pistol grip.

I'd also skip the Flex package. I've mixed and matched Mossberg parts many times, but I don't need to do it so often that I need to pay extra for quick detach stocks.
