who makes them? Or do most of you drill a swivel stud into the stock?

Most bipods either mount to a sling swivel stud (usually standard), a picatinny rail (AR Style) or the barrel (elcheapo style).
My advice: Install a sling swivel stud and either go with a Harris (best) or Rockmount (OK) bipod.

where would i get a stud that i know would fit the right bipod? or do the bipods come with them?

They're standard. If you buy a sling swivel stud mounted bipod it will fit your sling swivel stud.
You can pick up an uncle mike's sling swivel kit for your rifle from walmart. It's a very simple install if you have opposable thumbs and some basic tools (drill, center punch).
Walmart also sells a basic Rockmount bipod for about 40 bucks that isn't bad. Harris is better and lighter, but no problem with a Rockmount.

That and a basic set of sling studs in your gun.
The bipod clamps onto the sling stud and the sling swivel then connects to the bipod.

This set has wood screw for rear and machine screw/nut for forward (this is what I use, works with synthetics too. You epoxy in the rear wood screw on the synthetic stocks)

Oh if it has a sling mount already you should be good to go.
I was thinking the OP had a rifle with a bare stock (no studs/integrated mounts)
