Mossberg 590A1 magazine threads question

Hello guys Rachel here again ;)

I am a petite girl with small hands and taking off the magazine cap proved to be really hard for me so I called my brother to help me and he did it (I didn't want to use a tool or anything like that so...) But he told me this magazine cap was harder to take off than any of his other mossbergs 590s, then we noticed that the threads on the magazine tube didn't start flash against the end of the tube but a little lower instead, so i wonder is this some kind of defect? or all new mossbergs 590A1 are coming like that?

It appears that the smooth area is the relief (lower) than the threads so it shouldn't be a severe bind but we will see what others say as I am sure folks are tearing theirs apart to peek.

The top not being threaded allows for an easier time of starting the mag cap onto the tube threads . Acts like a guide .

How do the threads look on the inside of the cap ? My suggestion would be to apply a little grease on the threads and screw it on & off a dozen times . Then completely clean the threads inside the cap and also the tube . Then apply light lubrication and see if that smoothed it up .
 
I've come across a badly "cut" magazine cap, which needed replacing, so it is possible a new cap is in order. Find another cap to perform a substitution test to see if this is the problem.

You think that it might actually be the cap it self? and not the magazine tube? okay i didn't even think of that thanks L-2.

It very well could be the cap.
I own some high power magnifier glass I got from old bigscreen rear projection tv sets... they will point out discrepancy real well. Powerful enuff to see frogs hair!
