mossberg 590a safety problem

I have a mossberg 590a 12 gauge that I have had for about 9 yrs and never ever had a problem with it. Earlier this month I took it out and had the safety on the whole time (I havent used it in a while), when I go to take it off safe, a ball bearing fell out of the safety switch and is stuck on safe mode. I was wondering if I can fix the problem and if I can how. ( Internet links, or suggestions) has anyone ever come across this problem? I was wondering if it needed to be lubed...

Thanks in advanced.

need to remove the safety and replace the bearing. bearing shouldnt come out unless screw was too loose.

can get the parts from variety of places. might need to cut a slot into the screw to remove it this can destroy the safety carefull you dont cut into the receiver.

brownells has metal replacement safeties. egunparts has screws with slot cut instead of the mossberg security screw. reinstalling can be tricky if done wrong safety will engage under recoil. ball endmill or dremel attachment is usefull for making sure the bearing gets proper height to keep safety off under recoil.
dont want the safety screwed down too tight or loose. usually they are a little loose.

I suggest Loctite for this one. You can use it on the screw threads, then get things right before it hardens. If the parts are steel, you could stake the screw but plastic or alloy that wouldn't work.
