Mossberg 535 and Hogue stock and forend kits

Can a Hogue stock and forend kit for the Mossberg 500 be fitted to a Mossberg 535? I'm told the stocks from a 500 will fit a 535 but some people are saying the pump grip on the 500 cannot be fitted to the 535 because the 535 has a different action slide tube. Has any of you guys tried to upgrade your 535 with a Hogue or Magpul forend?
 
I did contact Hogue and they said it would not work fit but I had seen reviews claiming it would fit. Also 500 and 535 are practically identical apart from the 535 being able to fire 3.5 inch shells. So I figured I'd ask around here to hoping to get input from somebody who'd actually tried to fit this kit to his gun.
