Mossberg 505 .410 feed jams

I just got a new Mossberg 505 .410 pump and tried it this AM.
It will not feed from the mag.
I tried 2.5" shells first and switched to 3" to see if that was the problem.
It occasionally feeds 2 rounds into the carrier and sometimes it works normally.
MOST jam.
When it does put it directly in the carrier, it will jam (1/3 WAY INTO CHAMBER) on entering the chamber but not all the time.
Tried operating fast, slow and in between.

Any ideas or is this a warranty item and stop messing with it?

Thanks for any info.
Are the .410 Mossbergs finicky?

Thx

I've had this problem with two other new Mossberg pumps. The problem was caused by the two shell interrupters having sharp points that dragged on the case heads--thus tying things up.

Dis-asemble, clean thoroughly, and break the edge of the interrupter ends and then polish same. You can do all this with medium coarse or coarse grit sandpaper and polish with fine grit. Just make sure the ends do not snag on the case heads.

Rinky,

My Mossberg .410 has been the same from Day 1 (purchased new approx 2 years ago), very annoying to say the least.

Did you try nogo's idea and did it fix the problem? Thanks.

Same here

410 lovers:
My Mossberg 500 410 is probably my favorite gun. Not sure why. Anyway, I had the same problems. Finally sent it to Mossberg. They fixed it free and it has functioned flawlessly since. Granted one shouldn't have to send a new gun in for repairs, but . . . it is what it is.

Thanks, Prof.

I love my Mossberg .410 too. I wonder if Mossberg will be willing to try to fix it even though it's 2 years old? I'll contact them. I did contact them when I first got the .410 but doubt they kept a record of my complaint.

In any case, the only reason I own the gun is for protection; it doesn't make sense to have an unpredictable and unreliable weapon for protection. I hope Mossberg will be able to help.

Happy New Year.

I had one come in for a customer that bought thru me at Gallery of Guns, which came with thier lifetime replacement warranty,. customer called me, told him to bring it back to me. called my rep,new gun showed up next day, custmer came by, left happy, old one went back. no fuss, no muss no bother, no wait.

Triggerman:

I sent it to Mossberg for repair.

In the meantime, I just bookmarked your site (for possibly selling a pistol).

Thanks.
