Can anyone tell me where the serial number is on a Mossberg 500A shotgun.

Bottom of the reciever between the barrel and loading port.

I just looked at my 500A, and the model designation, etc. is in front of the loading port, but the serial number is on the left side of the receiver above the trigger. Maybe they moved it, once upon a time?

No, you are correct. I took a quick look at mine in closet light. My serial is covered by a sidesaddle. I was wrong.
