Mossberg 500A barrel interchangebility

I have had a 500A for a while, however recently I bought a 24" ported slug barrel with rifle sights from a very good seller on these forums. My 500A came with the 20" barrel, 8 shot mag tube. However, the part on the 24" barrel that screws onto the mag tube isn't as close to the front of the barrel to allow it to screw into the mag tube. I was thinking that if I pick up a shorter mag tube it will allow me to use the slug barrel?

Yes a 5 +1 tube and spring will allow you to use the vast majority of 500 barrels.

I am interested in buying the tube+ spring, where might I find those? I searched the Mossberg site, nothing

They use to make a 28" accu-choke ventrib barrel for the long tubes. It seems to be discontinued. Someone could call Mossberg and check for sure.
