Mossberg 500 trigger assembly spring

I took the Mossberg 500 trigger assembly apart a couple months ago, and put it back together w/ success. Now, I tried to do it again but completely forgot where this spring is going.

Can someone give me a picture or a hand drawing of where this spring is supposed to go?

Thanks very much.

This is the spring that opens the action lock after firing. The best description I can give you is the long leg goes up in the groove of the hammer, and the bent end goes over the action lock. This opens the action lock after the hammer goes forward. Without this spring the action stays locked after firing. Best to download a parts list from someone like StevesPages.

Thanks for responding

Yes, I already got all the parts description.

Now, a few more questions: which cross pin does this action lock spring mounted on- there are hammer pin, trigger pin and the action lock pin? It sounds like the action lock pin- but want to make sure.

Also, looking at the picture there is a slot between action lock bar and trigger assembly itself- I can also see action lock cross pin in this slot, does the action lock spring go in there?

When you mentioned that the bend end goes over the action lock, did you mean the small bend or the bigger bend w/ long leg?

Thanks again for helping.

It goes on the action lock pin. The short bent end rests on the action lock, and the long end fits inside the slot on the rear of the hammer.

Got it!

Now, I remember that the action lock spring is the most chanllenging one to get back in. But, finally got it back- hammer is in up position, the action lock is down (forward). I'll do it a few more time while it is still fresh.

Thanks Old Guard Dog for your time and patience.
