Mossberg 500 Trigger Assembly help please

I just bought a used model 500 and it NEEDED a very detailed cleaning. I took it apart into the smallest breakdown of parts. I was sure I would remember how to put it back together, but obveously, I didnt.
I am having trouble with the trigger assembly. Does anyone know of where I can get some detailed video or pics of it so I can get it back together?
Thank you

Well I hate to say this, but the manual specifically says not to take it apart, therefore i have not taken mine apart.

unless someone else can help you, you either have to fiddle with it a lot, send it to the factory, or buy a new one.

Next time, soak it in Dawn or the like in hot water for a while, scrub with a toothbrush and rinse it thoroughly with more hot water (from the tap). Blow it out with compressed air, let it dry and re-lubricate.

While some people glory in detail stripping guns, as a rule it does far more harm than good.

You might also try electronic or brake cleaner then relube as necessary

even the Mossberg owner's manual's exploded diagram only shows the trigger group as a complete unit

I can never remember whether it's the chlorinated brake cleaner, or the non-chlorinated brake cleaner, that will dissolve some plastics.

The Mossberg 500 trigger plate's frame is plastic.

Might want to do a little homework before using brake cleaner... :D

American Gunsmith institute has a DVD on the Mossberg 500 - and while I see its discontinued at Brownells ( which means they weren't selling many ) - I have seen it at gunshows, etc.

I have these DVD's on 1911's, Sig and S&W Revolvers - and they're very well done. I have not looked at the one on Mossberg 500's but I'd be surprised if it isn't very detailed.

While Trigger group work shouldn't be taken too lightly - there really is no reason why you can't learn to take it apart and put it back together ( and next time, snap a couple of digital photos, as you dis-assemble it ....step by step ...).

Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part V for Shotguns has a break down of the Mossberg trigger assembly. This is a good book to have if you are working on shot guns, they also have books on pistols and revolvers. Good luck : Bill

Yeah, I know it's a little late now, but I'm another who would question, "why"? No matter how dirty it is, there is really no need to take it apart. Possibly to replace a component, I suppose. But otherwise...far more trouble than it would ever be worth. Lee has the right approach above. Just MO.

I had to take mine apart, so I took pictures along the way. Unfortunately, I deleted them once I put it back together. This one survived, I hope it helps.

Mossy 500 trigger assembly

I have one I pulled out of a brand new 2010 model with the "Gold Trigger" in it. If you still need a trigger assembly email me and we can work something out. zmopar1@yahoo.com:)
