Mossberg 500 self-ejects!

I have a used Moss. 500 pump,in 12 guage that opens completely up on recoil when using a normal semi-relaxed hold.
Will new extractor springs create the necessary friction to hold it shut until I oerate the slide? Or is there something else I shuld be looking at? Thanks a lot.
 
Welcome to TFL Plinkr. One of the others here will be more qualified to address your question than myself. However, for what it is worth, several years ago (20+) I purchased a new Mossberg 500 that did exactually as you described. I contacted Mossberg and they informed me that it was their "automatic pump" and was supposed to open that way! It was the fastest shotgun I've ever owned and after getting used to it I loved it.

Plinkr, Gunslinger's right. The bolt lock is released when the hammer falls. After that the only thing holding the bolt closed is you. All pumps are designed this way although some will open farther than others. George
 
Hard to believe this is the way they designed it,but you could very well be right.
Especially if Mossberg said so. I've just never had another pump do this.
