my mossberg 500 12 ga. has heat chield, pistol grip handle and forend. top picatinny rail and bottom rail with green laser. i dont like shooting anything other than bird shot or 2 3/4 buckshot because of killer recoil on wrist. looking for a good but inexpensive stock with shoulder and pistol grip. any ideas for a web site?

I had the same set-up as you and the same problem except my mossy was a 20ga. I bought 2 stocks and like them both very much, a knoxx spec-ops recoil reducing stock and it works very well. 2nd I bought a hogue 12" LOP stock (no pistol grip) and it is also fantastic. I tried ATI products and I didn't like them at all, YMMV.

Mossberg 500 Persuader Tactical

I just got a Persuader Tactical and installed a Weaver top rail and red dot laser, but I also want to attach a flashlight under the front. Unfortunately the heat shield is attached upfront and has two bolts there. Anyone know what rail/ring etc... to buy to put in that location to install a flashlight under the front? I was going to fabricate one myself out of metal, but thought surely someone has already figured it out and has it for sale.

Try cdmgear.com

+1 on a buttstock. A great way to ruin a pump shotgun is by getting a pistol grip

Absolutely....with any pistol grip, your wrist is still going to get the recoil

Mossberg makes aftermarket stocks for their guns - get the regular stock and you'll be fine, unless you just want the "tactical" look

"ruin a pump shotgun".....

Not really, but having a PGO can ruin a potential fine shotgunner.

I have tried sundry aftermarket stocks for my 870s. A wood version is still the best, IMO, because it has 200 years of R&D behind it.Wood's also quite easy to alter if there's a fit problem.

I'd start there, after doing a hook shot into the waste receptacle with that PG.

I've had my Mossberg for probably 17-18 yrs.. I got the Cruiser combo, and I don't remember if I've ever even put the PG on it.
Mine is the 20" barrel with the full length mag. I forget how many "regular" 12ga shells it holds... maybe 8? It holds either 5 or 6 of the 3" OO Buck loads (S&B, I think) that I bought when they were having a sale several years back. These are the long, clear roll crimped loads, and they sort of KICK  I can't imagine firing one with a PG.
Personally, the ONLY reason I could see for having a PG on it would be if I was carrying it in a vehicle, and planned on having to fire it out a window. Can't imagine why I'd be doing that, so the PG stays on the shelf.
The handling, and "pointability" of it is just so much better with the shoulder stock on it. It gives you a reference point for hip shooting, and helps tame the recoil somewhat, by gripping with your strong side elbow while firing.
By the way, my Mossberg has NEVER failed to feed or fire. It's been utterly dependable, even though only I clean it once every year or so (whether it needs it, or not )

edit: I forgot to add, I even took it pheasant hunting up in Iowa one year.. it was the only shotgun I had at the time. Talk about raising some eyebrows... "you're gonna use a RIOT GUN for pheasant??" funny stuff.
It worked well, as long as the shots weren't beyond about 25-30yds or so.

I think you will find more pistol grips in folks "parts bins" than installed and in use... Me? Yep I got one in my gun cleanin' box...

I think I paid about $135 for Knoxx w- shipping, tax, etc from Cabela's.

Shoulda checked CheaperThanDirt!

PG is parts bin...

Knoxx spec-ops "breacher" grip

I bought the Knoxx spec-op grip for my Mossberg Maverick and am very happy with it. Mine is the “breacher” grip I believe; the one with the wire stock that folds over the top of the gun. It has a cam and spring in the pistol grip which lessens the recoil by about 50-60%. On their site they show firing a 12 gage single handed.
