Mossberg 500: New production vs. early 1990s production

There was a change in bolt design. Newer models use a firing pin return spring.

Older models had a firing pin with out a return spring.

Barrels are interchangeable.

I have both and I would say old. I don't like the synthetic stock on my super bantam as it looks extra cheap and seems to be only held on my a pin on each side.

I have a late 80's 500a 12ga. camo finish synthetic stock's that almost seem like they are solid . I mean you rap on them and they seem like solid wood real solid and a weird camo style kinda like almost woodland. I haven't seen to many other's like it around . it's been a real sweet gun though 28" vr a/c bbl. and I picked up a 24" sb,rs bbl. to go with it . gotta be my favorite pump gun .
