Mossberg 500 - Limbsaver

Hello Everyone,

I am the proud new owner of a Mossberg 500 Field / Deer combo 12 gauge. This past weekend, I decided to try out the rifled slug barrel at my local range, so I stocked up on a few boxes slugs and headed over to the range. This was my first experience firing anything with real recoil, and the recoil took my breath away. I knew before I purchased the shotgun that I would eventually by a Limbsaver recoil pad and after shooting it, have decided to purchase one ASAP. I checked out the templates on the Limbsaver website for the 500, and they only listed the synthetic stock. My stock is crown grade wood. Anyone know if the standard Mossberg 500 Limbsaver will fit on this stock? Will a slipon fit? Anyone else in a similar situation? I am looking for something that fits without much of a problem on my part. If it requires grinding etc. etc., I will probably just take it to a gunsmith.

Thanks.

Joe

I got one of the "grind-to-fit" one on my 500 and really like it. They are really easy to fit. I cut mine down a little big using a bench grinder and used a hand file to touch it up.

My 16 yo son thinks he can handle my mossberg with slugs, (from 1990).
These are the full juice slugs before they came out with low recoil slugs.

I have a cabinet full of heavy ammo, and slugs from before my shoulder surgery.

I won't even fire slugs, or my .30-06 any more. But Mr. hot shot thinks he can use all my old ammo. So we'll see one weekend.

I'll give him a few slugs, and a few 180 grain .30-06 shells, and I'm sure he'll hand me back both guns.
