I have a Mossberg 500 20ga that is failing to feed rounds. The rounds are about 1/8in short of the chamber when feeding. Does anyone know any possible fixes to htis problem? Thanks
Do you mean they are not going all the way in? Sure you're not trying to shove a 3" 20 ga. shell into a 2 3/4" 20 ga. chamber? Read the stamping on the gun barrel to be sure it matches the length printed on the box of shells.
The elavator does not seem to pick the shells up high enough to feed the rounds into the chamber at all. It will shot either 3 or 2 3/4 shells. The shells dont even come up high enough to feed into the chamber. If i manually feed rounds it it works fine but it will not come out of the magazine tube onto the elavator into the chamber
It sounds like it needs a thorough cleaning, including taking out the internal components and making sure the cartridge interruptor and cartridge stop are not bent. They're probably just crudded up.
I know this because I just cleaned mine. You need a manual if you don't have one.
Its an older Gun probably 15yrs old. I gave it a good cleaning including removing and cleaning all internal parts. What is the best way to see if the parts are bent? should they be flush to the sides or the back ends slightly stick out?
When in doubt, take it to the gunsmith. Don't try bending parts or anything if you're not familiar with the design. Also check to see if the forearm nut is tight, a loose pump can cause the same problem.
