got a mossy 500 cruiser for home protection, but gee it is hard to handle ive been working on technique of holding to the side and letting recoil just move the rifle along a arc next to my side......not taking any recoil this way doesnt hurt but its very difficult to aim, always shooting high. was thinking that one of the laser would help my aim but was worried that the brute force of a 12 ga. would be detrimental to the laser ?? any one try this yet ???

 Mossberg 500s are shotguns, not rifles. And are you asking about red dot sights or laser sights?

Invest in a shoulder stock? Even if you don't want one, buy one, when you have 3-5K rounds through the gun and you are compleatly instinctive with it then put the pistol grip back on.

As to laser the cheaper ones would likely not hold up to a shotgun, frankly they are toys, something like a sure fire unit I'd bet would, or at liest their enineers could probibly tell you yes or no however it may cost more than the gun.

ahem

They do make laser sights for shotguns and they aren't a bad idea for night shooting or shooting in the dark hallway of a house.

The other point is if you don't think you have time to aim the shotgun, why have the shotgun? You won't notice any recoil under a stressful situation and aiming as well as controlling the shotgun will be much safer and easier from the shoulder. You will not only be much more accurate and able to change targets much eaiser from the shoulder, but there would be less chance of having it taken from you as well. Shooting from the hip isn't what you want to be doing when your life is on the line!!! Get the shoulder stock and be much safer.
