Howdy. First time post. Long-time browser of TheFiringLine forums. Great bunch of people and lots of good info. for an enthusiast such as myself.

So, let's get to it.
Recently purchased a Mossberg 500 Cruiser/Persuader from a friend.
New and never fired :)
20" barrel, Heat shield, long mag tube, pistol grip.
Nice little HD piece.

My question is, if I ever wanted to reduce the barrel length to 18.5", what issues would I encounter with the long mag tube?
Just by looking at the firearm, you can see that a 18.5" barrel won't work with the current 8-round mag tube.

If I decided to swap out barrels to the 18.5", I'd also want the "long tube" for the 18.5" barrel length (more than 5 shots).

Does this exist? Can't seem to find anything online (midway, etc.)

Ain't she a beaut' ?

Not that I know of... Call Havlin sales to see if they have it... If not, mossberg will sell it as stand alone parts. But never seen a "complete" kit.

One reason many shy from the long mag tube is fewer barrel options.

I doubt you will find a real good reason to sink $150+ more in the gun to get 2 less inches.

1.5 inches really isn't going to make any difference - you might want to fire that thing and then decide (more realistically) on whether to put a regular stock on it. PGOs kick on BOTH ends

As well as all the other obvious drawbacks...

There is only one reason I can find for a PGO and that is overall length reduction for storage or concealment...

If you have time to unpack it to use it, you have time to take the gun from the same size storage vessel and use the afore planned long screwdriver to re-install a traditional stock and have a gun you can actually hit your target with...

Personally, I'd get rid of the PGO stock, put on a Hogue 12" LOP overmolded stock and call it a day. Why reduce your magazine capacity to shorten your barrel by only 1.5"?

Edit: If you intend to keep the PGO stock, may I suggest a proper sling like the Urban ERT sling originally designed for the SIG P556 pistol? The sling works nicely to give you a cheek weld when firing a weapon with a PGO stock. It also allows you to control the weapon with forward pressure as opposed to the more typical rearward pressure (against your shoulder).

Me too. Leave the barrel alone. You'll never notice the difference in length and put a real stock on the thing.

Before you spend any money check your local laws for over all length. The BATF standard is 26 inches, but some state laws are different.
