Mossberg 4x4 thoughts and opinions

I am getting ready to purchase a new bolt action, and had my eyes set on a savage 110. However, the other day I was checking out a mossberg 4x4, and was wondering if anyone has any range time with one of these? What are your thoughts and opinions on them? The good and the bad. I know the savage 110 is a solid platform, but that moss has me second guessing. Thanks for your help all.

I've shot a Savage 110 a few times. And own a Mossberg 4x4 in .30-06 Springfield.

I was very surprised by how accurate my Mossberg was, especially with Winchester Power-Point 165 grn ammo. It is a MOA rifle, at least out to 200 yards.

My biggest concern with the rifle, is that in my variant with the composite stock, the recoil is hard hitting to the point of being unpleasant.

It's worse than shooting my Ruger Hawkeye in 7mm Rem Mag.

The Mossberg design has been around for a long time, sold under 3-4 different names. All of the previous companies that made the gun folded. It is a decent gun for the money, but I have concerns about long term durability. The Savage isn't my top choice, but it is a proven design.

Thank you guys for your input. I'm starting too lean towards the savage 110 right now. Seems like a more stable platform.

No Issues With My 4x4

I have a Mossberg 4x4 (30.06) matched to a Zeiss Duralyt 3-12x50 (red dot). I bought it in 2012. It is set it up to hunt Red Deer, Mouflon, Chamois and Wild Boar in Germany and the Czech Republic. Since I also also have a Weatherby Vanguard 30.06 as well as two .308s, it is not overworked for hunting purposes. I do take it to the range once a month (3-9 rounds depending on shot group). I've had no issues to date. I am looking for some suggestions on a bipod choice though...
