Anyone have any experience with the Mossberg 100ATR rifle?

I'm looking at the 100ATR Long Action in 30-06. It sure looks nice with a newly designed trigger, fluted stainless steel barrel, and msrp of $471.

ATR 30-06

Got one here (Whitetail Lightning), and I like it a lot. Got it about a year ago, and has been through one season of playing in the woods. Most of the time I take it to the range for target practice out to 300 yards.

Great trigger, balance and accuracy. Mine came as a package with a scope which I replaced with a Nikon. My buddies with Savage's think the barrel and it's attachment method are from Savage.

I reload my own ammo, so I don't have any ideas about factory stuff. Mine really likes the 150grain Hornady fmj-bt, 43 grains of Varget with a CCI 200 primer.

The model you are looking at with the fluted stainless steel barrel is one I would like to get also.

Mine is a great shooter in .308, have a few deer kills over the 250 yard mark. Home loads all the way. Now in a custom stock I love it ALOT more.

FUR-FISH-GAME magazine did a test using the 270 model. It shot very tight groups at all distances. Trigger was determined to be well above average. Based upon this report and previous replies, I'd say that Mossberg is a keeper!

Brought one used in 243 for 200$ about 6 mounths ago ,hated the fit of the plastic stock so I ordered a laminated one from Boyds . The gun shoots OK but would definetly spend a little more money and get a Ruger, Savage or a Remington .The scope that comes with it is bad and should be replaced with a scope for 150$ -200$. So with the money I spent I could have gotten a better used rifle.
