Mosins by the crate?

I have my C&R FFL. Where's the best place to buy a crate of Mosins?

AIM has them but after shipping they're like $140 each. Is that the going rate now? I know I won't find $75 like the good old days but $140 seems pretty high.

Up here in NY they've been at $150 for the past 2 years or so. Ever since buying one I've stopped checking the prices; they could be up to $200 by now if they're even on the shelves. Then again, take this with a grain of salt. I live in anti-2A ground zero.
 
I think Classic Firearms still does the crate.

If you're looking to 'invest', get all pre-War dates, in excellent condition.
 
Classic Arms was asking more than the "per rifle" price last time I checked.

So much for a quantity discount... or credit because they don't even touch them, just ship you the same crate, that was shipped to them...

I see AIM is advertising by the crate now. And rifle prices all over are "down" to $129 almost everywhere. Not $79 anymore, but not close to $200 where they were...

And AR lowers are back to $79, with free shipping again.

Some normalcy is returning. Now if only the government would stop buying all the primers, powder, and bullets.
 
I saw a crate of them in Gander Mt. a couple weeks ago. I think they were like 159.00 each and they wanted 75.00 for the empty crate. They looked 1/2 decent, but I didn't look them over real close.
 
I often thought about getting a crate of them as well, but wondered if they had been picked through and re-crated. You can find a collector's gem amongst an un-molested crate full of them. Like an ex-sniper, or a particularly collectable date of manufacture, place of manufacture, etc... Totally makes sense to get a crate to pick out the best piece for your collection. Slowly weed out the others in your collection to free up money to improve your collection.

of course that would just be silly.
it would be better to buy the crate and let them appreciate until the FFL expires THEN sell them for 3 times profit :D
 
I was at the Cabela's in Hammond IN yesterday, they had a rack of 91/30 M-Ns for $130 each. They were $180 a few weeks ago.

Maybe things are getting back to normal?

They were advertised in a sale flyer I got in the mail for that price. Don't remember how long the &$129.95 advertised price is good for.

Discussed this on another forum. I have a really hard time buying into the premise that somewhere from the importer to the seller that these crates aren't being opened and the contents gone through. While more obscure collectibles might make it past the scrutiny, I believe the obvious ones with greater value get picked.

A year ago, I would have agreed there could be some additional value there. But with prices still elevated, I'm skeptical.

It wouldn't surprise me, either- if the Russians or other Eastern Bloc countries sending these out have wised up and are culling on their end, now.
 
Or if the OP wants what should be one of the best MNs, he could shop around for a Finnish M-39, which could cost $350-400.

Then he pays less money for a nice gun without taking a gamble, and has a MN which most fans won't quite recognize.
The Finns designed their own version, but also reworked many left behind by the Soviet Union after The Winter War.

If you've watched "Life Below Zero", the guy's wife tried to hit running elk from about 200 yards with what appears to be a Finn M-39. Notice the muzzle's sight protector and different wood color than typical Russian MN 91/30s.
