Mosin Scope

Just ordered a Mosin and know little about them. Very interested though. What is the best way to attach a scope? One friend said you could take the rear sight off an mount it there. That doesn't sound to great to me. I know the Russians used them as sniper rifles, so perhaps there are Russian scope mounts available?
