Mosin Nagant Oiler in accessory kit

Does anybody know what the two compounds are in the oiler? Mine still has liquids in them. They smell foul. I've heard one is an alkaline solvent and one is an oil. Is this true? Is there any more specific information on them than that? Would they still be worth using to clean the gun?

Mine came the same way. I don't know what that crap was but I washed mine out in gas, then diesel oil.

I don't use it, I just use my normal cleaning supplies.

The same with my oilers for my Garand, Carbine and M1A.

in all of my oilers the compounds had solidified. I left one out in the sun to loosen it up and run out but only one of them did so I just threw the oiler away.

One is a solvent, the other is an oil.
Don't ask me which is which.
