So a few of your remember my project mosin nagant."black lightning"

the project for accurazing without permanent mods V1, and then the scoped project V2 , though it cannot use stripper clips to load it , the last thing did was to add bedding pillars from RSI

so like many of my fellows ive wanted more ammo in my mosin, but I'd really hate to do another permanent mod, the scope was about as far as im willing to go

SO, what do i bring you all today ?

https://www.youtube.com/user/riflemods

i ran across this channel the other day and was very impressed with the product

so ive emailed him and i will have one on the way soon, its rather easy to install and not a permanent modification ,every mosin lovers dream attachment,

price? 139$ with 9.95$ shipping

so roughly 150$

now most of you would say, NO or, id just buy another mosin , ect, the list will go on forever and beyond, so lets not go there shall we?

for me its worth it as ive already invested well over my original 98$ mosin nagant rifle purchase

and if the extra magazine capacity isnt worth it for you, dont buy it

but its something i feel i should make those who may want one aware of

-enjoy

Last I heard that company was a scam, sending out 10 round CZ Mags or something like that.

I actually thought that project went defunct quite a time ago.

I hope you actually do get the product described, though.

For a few bucks more you can buy his web domain.

http://www.riflemods.com

Hope you didn't send any money. I suspect you'll be getting email bounce back from info@riflemods.com pretty soon.

Edit to add: $139 is what I paid for my 1931 Hex Receiver Tula. I'll never understand people who dump a ton of money into a Nagant. Don't get me wrong, I love mine. But other than ammo, all I've ever spent on mine was $20 for slip on recoil pad.

Product is legit

Recieved it today and installed on my mosin BL

test shoot saturday using this new setup, im so excited ! and best part no permanent modification !

install was quick and the adjustment ability to mosins is very adaptable, well worth it IMO, let me do test shoots to see if there are any gimmick or hiccups

videos to come soon

looks pretty cool. I like the archangel stock, it's 149$ with a magazine and also no modification to the rifle itself. but you already have that nice wood stock, I think it's a nice addition and definitely different

if your mag is anything like promag's, it generally works best when put in on a closed bolt. usually reliable but gets a hang up here and there. my mosin is the last gun I will grab if I need a battle rifle, so I am okay with that

my problem with the archangel is they never sent me my order ,I was in the preorder but i was passed over :(, so i gave up on them

and they have had issues with the magazines due to not letting them "bake" long enough, their words not mine.

so far its a metal magazin extention and im happy with it

I'll try to get some vids in this weekend , if i miss its due to adding new scope rings and i need to re zero, so apologies

yeah, their first batch had some warped magazines, but all is well now. and you wont be passed over anymore cause you can buy them in-stock pretty much anywere. any new stock system for milsurps has a hiccup or two on the first run, and they usually work them out and in promag's case, they replaced all the customers mags and even threw in an extra, so job well done. not trying to derail your thread, but they don't need any bad press from an issue they quickly resolved on their dime.

It was a quick install, about 2 minutes to adjust the magazine to fit tight and snug.

I would like it to be a darker black to match the rifle. I am glad there is no big advertising stamp on it

On the archangel issue

I did say HAD on the magazine issue.I did not say it was a current problem
not trying to hurt the rep, but I'm honest and blunt about it.

I won't purchase from them myself due to never receiving the product I paid for.

I believe I detailed my issue in my old mosin project thread , not a positive customer experience, but it happens. just my personal reasons.;)

also stated I do have the laminate stock, which is a nice eye pleaser . If I got another mosin maybe I'd try the archangel, and see how it worked, but that's for another time and thread

update

Today I tested the magazine , removed firing pin and put in a cut off one (so it cant fire, safety first)

anyway so with the non firing mosin , put 10 rounds in it, easy to do, cant use strippers due to the scope mount, so hand fed it.

it fed and ejected every round without an issue. so yay it works!

just wanted to make sure it functioned before I took it out to test fire.

I did do a simulated jam, fed a bullet inside tip forward which caused it to bind (Something to do to practice clearing a jam, ive done it a few times when testing out new bullets before )

Now this was to test how quick it is to correct the jam. so pulled the extensions latch which forced the spring up ,and dumped the round out the back. I then snapped the extension back in place, so its quick to open and close.

a nice product so far.

more to come after the shoot.

The good (mag works) and The bad (scope broke )

ok so a break down of my shoot Saturday. we were zeroing a bunch of rifles

the magazine shot roughly 30 rounds before i had to stop due to trying to zero it would be pointless as the scope broke

an acquaintance had brought some rifles he needed zeroed so we worked those first

started with a Remington AR25 using a nightforce scope, very nice , its going to be the model my lr308 will be compared with when its finished

moved to the sako 338 rifle using a nightforce as well, a very nice rifle ,(though i had to double up on ears...)

after that, I finally brought out the mosin , for its zero
(as i have new warner rings i needed to re zero)

started shooting after using a bore sight on a reflective target (55) to at least get it on paper.

loaded up the magazine to 10 and moved to 150 yard plate to at least get it in ballpark, began firing and mosin was shooting left of the plate.

so this confused us, so I unloaded and re bore sighted , the laser had dropped about 5 clicks down, so I shrugged and tried to fire again at the 150 plate, same issue occurred. i decided to shoot the remaining rounds at the spot(adjusting my turrents every time), every shot hit the same spot, the others thought maybe i was pulling left , i suggested they try , we progressed with the other shooters trying it, and the mosin hit the exact same spot every time, not matter scope adjustment or how many clicks we did. (at least i can say my rifle isnt the issue) was using surplus Russian ammo spam can

so after all that we concluded the scope is busted, so it took a few years but the mosin finally broke the BARSKA 6-24x50 IR 2nd Generation Sniper Riflescope. it was a good buy at the time and i got a deal on it, so no complaints, just sad to see it go

good while it lasted, but im going to slap on either a vortex or redfeild of similar magnification

so the result is magazine works fine so far and did not alter my shooting in any negative way i could notice

the barska scope however did not stand up to the mosin
