Mosin M38 & Steel Case Ammo

After shooting some rounds I can unlock the bolt but need a rubber mallet to knock it lose to eject the round. Brass or copper washed case eject just fine.

Any ideas?

Have you done the chamber scrub with the shotgun brush and drill?

Mauser88 has the right idea. It has always worked for me when I had the problem. Also, make sure you disassemble the bolt and clean it thoroughly.

if you have an aftermarket stock on it you might be rubbing inside with the spring that pushes up the next round in the "mag" (sorry for the terminology)
