heres a good question, how do you reverse mount the bayonet on your 91/30 for "vehicle transport/quardroom storage"?

i read a magazine and said you simply mount in reverse with bayonet blade on left side. can anyone show a picture or to/ sounds a good way to keep it from getting lost.

does it affect accuracy when shot with it mounted this way?
 
You can slide it backwards onto the muzzle but without any way to lock it the bayonet is not going to stay on very well. Like the article said reversing the bayonet is just for vehicle transport and storage. If you tried shooting the rifle with the bayonet on backwards you would most likely end up launching it downrange.
 
If the reason for taking the boyonette is for keeping it shooting straight. Well there is a simple solution to that. A hammer, a drift punch, a few tagets, and some ammo. Work at 25 yards to get it lined up. Fire 2 shots if they are both right then take the punch and hammer then tap the front sight to the right with a tap, tap, tap, tap. Fire another 2 shots. Repeat adjustments till the sight is lined up that the shots are going dead center at 25 yards.


If you decide you want to take it back to the settng it was from the factory there is a line on the sight, and receiver tap till they line up it is back to default factory setting.
 
Mine are stored either on the rifle in a wall rack, or point down in a hole in the rack next to the rifle muzzle, but for transport, just remove it. If you want to conceal/protect it, wrap in butcher paper and place in a 2" diam. PVC tube.
