My buddy is hard for some cash. He wants to sell me a mosberg 500 pump shotgun for 200
It has a pistol grip? good Deal?
I am a Semi Auto guy so not very educated on shot guns
I dont want to pay to much cause i am sure he will never buy it back
and want to atleast regain my money back
Thanks for your input

Is it a pistol grip only or does it still have a stock WITH a pistol grip?

If it has a stock, it could be used for turkey, deer, and defense (you didn't say what you'd use it for, so I'm just throwing things out there).

Without a stock, it would only be suitable for defense, and there are many who would say pistol grip only isn't good for defense either.

As was already said, $200 for pistol-grip-only may not be a good deal. Even it if has a stock, that may be high unless you know right now that it will serve a purpose for you.

What would a local pawn shop offer if he tried to sell it?
For a stranger off the street... You would be hard pressed to squeak a hundred at a pawn shop...

If the pawn broker knows you and you have a track record of getting your stuff back, he might let you talk him out of $115-125... MAX!

private sale, 150 if no stock.
BUT, for 50 bucks you can get a synthetic stock and fore grip and end up with a convertible.
most pistol grip 500's are 18" barrels, but longer barrels are available from mossberg and aftermarket.

nothing beats new, but if you dont mind a used shotgun do it for your buddy.

if he is just your buddy and not your buddy(you know what I mean), buy a new one.

Hogdogs hit it real close. I am a gunsmith at a pawn/gun shop and we never give over $100.00 for one [unless the pawn is a GOOD repeat customer with a GOOD track record] . Most are pawned/purchased for $50 - $75 . When we resell them [after I go over them and give them a good bill of health] we price them at $175.00 and usually take $125 - $150 .
