Morgan adjustable recoil pad question

any reason you would want to change it? I use the curved model on my trap guns and the flat for hunting and Ive never had any recoil problems. The only way I see to use a different pad would be to somehow add the mounting nut from the morgan pad to the new one. That might ruin the new pad or worse you would get a nasty bruise on your shoulder.

No, as they come the pad is adjustable vertically only. You can mill slots in both halves and have adjustment rotationally as well though.

One more question, is it grindable to bring it closer to the size of the stock? I am talking about the plate that mounts to the stock itself.

Yes, the metal base can be ground to fit the stock. Coat the base with dyem steel blue and let it dry. Install the base on the stock. Take a sharp scribe and mark the outline of the stock on the base being carefull not to scratch the stock finish. Remove the base and file or belt grind the base almost to the line. Use finer grits of sandpaper to sand to the line. Polish the edges with green rouge.

+1 on grinding it down if you are in pa or near me I would be more than happy to grind it for you. I start with an air grinder to rough shape it. then finish with a file and a nice buff job.

The Morgan can be rotated to line the pad up better with the "Cup" inside your shoulder joint. Leave it a little loose, mount it, let it rotate to the right angle, and screw it down tightly.

HTH....

Dave is right, you can clamp it down with the grooves not aligned. Just be aware that it adds a quarter inch or a hair more LOP.

Thanks all. My neighbor acrossed the street is going to do all the work for me. He did my 525 Citori and I love it. He will do the same thing with the Beretta.
