I have just purchased a used Model 12 Trap gun in 12 guage. It has some what I hope is surface rust on the bolt face and few other small spots.
Can you tell me easily, or provide a link where I can get dissasembly instructions?
I am told that you have to remove the trigger assembly to get te bolt out. If so, can a mechanical idiot do this?

A model 12 is a fairly Simple shotgun to disassemble and reassemble. one thing though is be very carefull when trying to remove the rust as you can get to deep and actually remove the finish off the bolt which will cause rust issues in the future also if your thinking of reblueing your model 12 I would consider sending it to Hastings they installed 90 % of the Vent ribs on Model 12s

Thanks for the links. I think they wil do the job.
I have been able to remove most of the surface rust on the bluing by using penetrating oil and a soft rag. There were a few little spots where I used the point of a pencil. someone on this board suggested I Kroil, which will be my next step if the regualr oil doesn't work.
I think the penetrating oil should work on the bolt face if I can get to it.
From the diagrams, it does appear that I will have to dissasemble the gun by removing the trigger assembly. It looks as if it has several small parts, so I will have to be careful of that.
