More reliable than any person?

Just a general question... do you believe that your personal firearm is more reliable than a person could ever be? Me personally, I trust my weapon more than my own family. How about you?
 
This is a nonsense question comparing two unrelated things. It’s like saying, “Which is harder, a diamond or playing Beethoven’s ‘Turkish March’ on the piano?”
 
Strange question, more reliable in what way. You can't compare a human relationship with a inanimate object.
 
I don't understand the relevancy of the question. How can you compare a
firearm to your family? That gun isn't going to call an ambulance, when
your having a medical emergency. That gun isn't going to watch your kids,
when you go to a R movie. It's not going to lend you 800$, when your
car breaks down.
 
There's all kinds of different "threats". Your family is going to be there for
all the common problems which happen all the time. Yes, your gun could save
you, but that type of "threat" is less likely to hit you than lightning.
 
In that light, I agree with you. I should have been more specific. I'm only speaking in regards to a life or death situation.
 
Wouldn't your family member have a gun? I'm not quite understanding the scenario
about which you are asking. Your life is threatened, and on one hand you have a
loaded gun, but, on the other hand, you have a loaded NEPHEW?

Help me out, here...
 
A lot of life and death situations are health related, and i would want and trust my family more that a piece of metal.

They could, but what if they aren't a gun person? For instance, my aunt's wife absolutely doesn't like guns in the house. How am I to rely on this person if they refuse to have a gun of their own?
 
She can't babysit, drive you to the repair shop, call an ambulance,
apply first aid, notify the rest of your family there's a problem, etc.

You live in the same house as your Aunt, and her spouse?

No, you're right. I guess I should've thought that through a little bit more. Still, I do have issues with trusting other people with my life.
For the record, I live alone save for a reclusive roommate.
 
My favorite firearm is only as reliable as my judgement. I trust my judgement when it comes to guns. However I am flawed and trust my loved ones to be there for me in the overwhelming majority of situations that will not involve guns.
 
At least 20 variables on each side of that equation.

Loaded?
Correct ammo?
Accessible?
Appropriate for threat?
....
