Bushmaster has confirmed that the lower left the factory as a complete, pre-ban rifle in '92.
Let me start off by saying that I have received alot of good info over at ar15.com. I just thought I would get some input from the members over here, also.
I want to find a good, accurate 16" carbine upper for my pre-ban Bushmaster lower. I will spend up to $1000 on it.
I want an A3 upper, preferably something lightweight and as accurate as possible.
I had been considering a Bushmaster 16" v-match, but have heard that they overheat and become impossible to hold after a few rapid-fire rounds. Someone else alo told me that they weigh about as much as my 20" H-bar.
The bushmaster M4 uppers shown at their website appear to be A2 uppers, not flat-tops, and I did not see any lightweight uppers.
Frank at CLE said he would build me a 16" spacegun upper w/ Krieger barrel for $1000, but I am wondering if it is worth getting such a pricey upper on a carbine.
I also wonder about the weight, as I will carry it w/ iron-sights in the brush were I live. The carbine will also be fitted w/ a scope for shooting at clay pigeons (about 300yds) at the range.
Is there an upper which will be "best" for my applications.
I actually like the look of the free-floating aluminum handguards, but I don't want my rifle to overheat if I ever NEED to rapid-fire it.
What are my options?
