More NJ nonsense

NJ law specifically prohibits anyone other than law enforcement to carry HP or "dum dum" ammo? Anyone know what the legal definition of a dum dum is?????

That would be the case if you fail to display the proper submissive attitude and/or fail to give enough respect and/or props to the people's representative and somehow the nose of a bullet in your possession ends up having a cross cut into it, making it a dum-dum.

Dum Dum means just about any effective expanding defensive round according to a Sgt that lived next to me in Brigantine N.J.. That was back when I had hair but when I asked my neighbor about it he said dum dums were bullets that were designed to explode and tear people up, or cop killer bullets that would go through body armor because of the hollow points.

My point being that what the law says and how the rank and file interpret it may vary.

If'n it was me and I had to do what you have to do - get rid of effective ammo before entering the democratic free people's republic.

Carry LRN in .38.
Possibly have copy of statutes allowing you to be armed and definitely have all credentials in order.

Try really hard to avoid contact with LE in Jersey that is not directly related to your assignment.

Stop on when you get back to Free America and purchase small box of defensive ammo.

Pray throughout.

I did know some really upstanding Officers in Jersey that took their oath and people's rights seriously. My opinion is that they are not the majority. Many of those folks think they are not doing their jobs if they aren't rabidly anti RKBA.

Judges, LEO, politicians, citizens in NJ will authoritatively state that there is no individual right to own guns. Maybe not all of them, but too many people have found out the hard way there are enough of them to ruin your entire afternoon.

YMMV.

Edit - Perhaps this incident will give you some insight. In NJ the blade law specifies a "dangerous knife" A really good Sgt and friend of mine that worked in Atlantic City told me two definitions of dangerous existed :

a.) a knife that could cause a dangerous wound.
b.) a knife being used dangerously

My son, a minority in Brigantine because he was a Christian youth, was stopped one night for suspiciously driving down the street with an attractive young female in the car. His Cub Scout penknife in his pocket resulted in two felony charges.

He lost his seat in Marine Infantry school, was discharged from DEP and had to re-enlist. Community outrage and pressure caused the charges to be dismissed with prejudice.

The officer's LT (the guy who was sgt when he lived next to me), the boy's pastor, his employer, his mother's employer, and a slew of other people protested. The PD knew they were ruining his enlistment by not dropping the charges before trial. They took the liability reducing path of just not showing up for court.

If that story is true, and I swear it is and will happily put you in touch with the Corporal, how far do you want to push your luck in NJ?

From his earlier posts I gather Hoss has to swim them waters while armed with a .38.

Our Parole officers here in Delaware have to do that now and then. You find this out because they talk about it when they come to the range/store to pick up Jersey legal ammo.

it is what it is hoss. pure NONSENSE. i would like to see the test results of JHP ammo being shot at a vest. and see a few being shot at a vest with my own 2 eyes. and look at the vest to see if it did go through. fat chance of that happening i'm not LE. if i recall right you can't have hollow points loaded into shells. you can have the bullet heads(projectile). just don't load them. but you can have hollow point pistol bullets to load into you muzzleloader sabots. most of the first muzzleloader sabots were a .44 or .45 cal. JHP for .50 cal. rifles. i think FMJ from 10' will go through the vest. an all lead bullet may not.

The Police Dept that I work for in NY is covered by HR 218. If I ever have to go into NJ, I will make sure not to have HP's in the gun.

What do they butter their toast with?

What do they butter their toast with?

Well, you can bet that if they don't do it in a manner that is not considered dangerously - there could be a beef.

Good knowledgeable street cops (there are a few in the PRNJ) have told me that if you basically assume any weapon is illegal in Jersey you are probably right.

That's why there is absolutely no crime in PRNJ ::barf::barf::barf:

Yet Jersey cops wonder why some places do not believe in extending them professional courtesy. Actually had one complaining to me about a ticket in Virginia. Boggles the mind.

NJ residents are too blame.

NJ residents centered in Newark, Camden and Trenton keep voting into office these ultra left wing law makers in NJ for some reason.

I've heard quite a few horror stories about cops from NJ and NY getting tagged by the Virginia State Police. My advice to them- drive the damn speed limit. Theres no need to do 85 in a 55 mph zone. NJSP are a good bunch. Some of the smaller dept's can be difficult to deal with though.

When I was doing security work at Trump Plaza - standing under a rack of surveillance cameras at a casino entrance - A Bryn Mawr Officer actually flashed his badge at me in an attempt to get his 14 y/o son into the casino.

I am quite sure I was an @hole not to extend that courtesy. Certainly if I were to drive through his town at an abnormally high rate of speed the fact that I wore the lavender blood stripe of Ivana Trumps toy cops would have insured a friendly warning :barf:

Do know of one Jersey lawman getting some courtesy from VSP. I think his attitude was the key. He agreed with the trooper that he was speeding and told the man he understood as he was also an officer. He was asked to show his PD credentials and was let loose with a warning.

If you just tell them you are a cop like they are then no longer in charge of the stop it generally means sad times in store.

There are some good cops in Jersey, but I could type all night about just what I personally have seen and heard.

Are Hot Ass Load of Wad Cutters Legal?

Would you be willing to bet your freedom on them not being ruled as "dum dum" bullets?

Ah, Home.......

Of all the places I have lived in the world, including California, Maine, Paris (hey, she was really cute!) and good old NJ, Newark, NJ, takes the cake. Born and raised in northern NJ I was somewhat confused by Newark. People in the old Ironbound neighborhood I lived in were up in arms about this and that but vote? I never saw any of my neighbors at the polls!

Can't wait to get out of here. The only dum-dums I know are the cheap lollipops they used to give kids at the bank. I liked the pineapple best. I have Hornady 158gr XTP JHP .357 Magnums in my SP101 house gun. The dum dum is the intruder!
